so, lots of new and exciting things are happening to me right now.
for starters this is finals week, so I am officially done with my junior year of college in a couple of days!
I am signing a lease this week to rent a townhouse with a couple friends of mine!! they wont be here for the summer, so I get a great place, close to campus, all to myself for the summer! so liz, vada, if you need a getaway for a couple days - call me! haha
I will post some pictures in a few days so you can see my awesome pad!
more exciting, or actually, equally exciting, is that I got a new job!! this summer I plan to work at the Biodesign building on campus. I will be working reception, escorting guests, and giving mini tours! this is way cool for a couple of reasons. 1) biodesign is the most high tech building on campus, and there is cutting edge and highly secretive research being done inside, therefore, for the purpose of getting access to all the places I need to with the tours I will give, I not only get a badge that will open doors, but my fingerprint will also open doors, as will a scan of my retina!!! for real! 2) chances are really good I will get to learn how to ride a segway scooter! one of those ones that uses gyroscopes to balance, so all you ahve to do is barely lean to go where you want. 3) the mini tours I will be giving sound like a fairly new idea for biodesign, so it sounds like I will kind of get to help mold them and shape how they will be given, which is totally up my alley!
of course a new job does mean the leaving of other jobs. I mean, really, I can't work 4 jobs, so I decided to leave my Honors College job. I know, tear. but I feel like I have gone as far as I can with it, and made all the connections I can, so it is on to newer things. I do intend to keep my Info Desk job, as well as my other fairly new job at Testing Services, afterall I am moving into my own place, I have to pay for it somehow, haha.
I am proud that I am branching out and finding employment that utilizes the skills I already have, but changes the content of what I am working on, so I know more and more about various aspects of the university.
Go me!!
