so, winter break was a blast (read below) and then it was time for school again!!
I have a great class schedule with classes from 12-4 everyday and none on fridays! so it was perfect for work.
I originally had decided to cut back on hours at the Honors College and take a student supervisor position at the Info Desk, but I realized when the opportunity actually came, that I didnt want to be that supervisor, and even if I took the job, I wouldn't work enough hours a week to make the same as I did last semester.
so, I decided instead to look for a new job that would pay as well as the supervisor job. I was looking for a job within the Cronkite School, but it wasn't happening, so I ended up landing a job at testing services! I am the main receptionist, and work most days 8-noon. testing services basically runs all the scantrons from class tests, and also offers all the big national tests like ACT, LSAT, and the GRE.
the kicker is that I do still work at the Honors College and the Info Desk (roughly 36 hours a week between all three). my roommate thinks I am crazy, but I am able to actually save some money, and I only work weekdays 8-12 and a couple nights a week, and at the info desk and testing services I can get homework done. and frankly, why do homework at home if I can get paid to do it elsewhere? plus if I had more free time I would squander it.
so I am happily working all the time and going to school full time, and happily hanging out with brian, and I even have fun!!
next weekend I am going to be judging speeches at the Academic Decathlon state competition. I am really excited because it is the first year I have been far enough removed from high school to do it. they figure I don't know any of the team members from my high school by now - safe assumption.
oddly enough I have seen my whole family this month! my mom came up in the beginning of February to have lunch with me, and then last week Greg was in town so Tomoko could get some work done, and he could find them a car, so he and my dad were in Phoenix, and I managed to have lunch with them too (free meals - I highly recommend them). would have been nice to see Tomoko too, but she was too busy.
and now I will see the rest of my family next weekend for my grandmother's 82nd birthday!! I am sposed to have a new cousin by then, which is very exciting, although very confusing. her name will/is Gwendolyn Adelaide, and I have heard reports that she will be called Gwen, but that her dad also wants to nickname her Heidi. I can't keep up, and therefore will call her Wendi and put the two together to save time.
Congrats Vada!!
