but today, was saturday, so I got to sleep in all I wanted! yay for warm comfortable duvets, and rooms devoid of roommates!
once I started my day, Chelsey and I went to Grosvener's Square. it has the Roosevelt Monument, a statue of Eisenhower, and just happens to be right in front of the US Embassy. we packed our passports just in case. going inside the embassy would be pretty cool.
the square is pretty small, but we had another beeyootiful day, up to the mid 70s (no jacket required at all!) and there were a bunch of people enjoying the outdoors. I was surprised to find a Sept. 11 memorial in the square. it even had a steel gurter from the World Trade Center in it.

the statue of Eisenhower faces the building where he commanded the allied forces. it is across the street from the embassy.

and this is the square

I really wanted to go into the Embassy...you know, because I can. but, it turns out...I can't.

there was an armed guard there too. Chelsey and I got uncomfortable and figured if the Embassy had to be locked down we didn't need to be anywhere near it.

but we were still feeling pretty patriotic so we did what all good Americans do and consumed! that's right, we went shopping! I spent, probably too much money, but found so much fun stuff! I bought tea, and my union jack flag (harder to find than I thought) and I bought lovely soaps and amazing bath stuff that will definitely get me to take baths (as opposed to showers - which are daily, don't worry) more often from a place called Lush. (www.lush.com) they have the coolest stuff! like bath bombs, that fizz. and bubble bath bars that create more bubbles than you know what to do with. (and they have a store in scottsdale!) I got a cocoa butter bar that looks like a piece of chocolate cake and is supposed to be super moisturizing because it is 60% cocoa butter. doubtful it would taste that great though. but I will be oh so silky smooth. I am definitely looking forward to coming home so I can try out all the goodies I got.
and after a stressful day of shopping what can a girl do but pack a lunch and go lie in the grass in the park right across from her flat? literally.

seriously, it is only the second day of blue sky I have encountered on this trip. it is definitely photoworthy!
