You would think that with all the small english towns that were created for the sole purpose of housing the marketplace that farmers markets would be old hat to these people. not so!
Today we went to one of about 8 farmers markets in London on saturdays, and we found fresh breads, meats, jams, cheeses, and veggies (asparagus is in season! yummy). it turns out farmers markets first popped up in England in 1997! they stole it from the Americans! who knew?!
we bought some delicious fresh stuff and then went back to Kensington Gardens and Hyde park and had a picnic lunch on the steps of the Albert Memorial. we felt tres chic and uber european with our baguettes and cheese and jam. then we walked around the park all day. we saw Kensington palace (where Diana lived) and the amazing gardens there. and we saw the peter pan monument. and I took pictures of the parks but the beautiful greenery just doesnt come through, nor does the size. all the parks and buildings and everything are much bigger in person. you all should really come here.
it is starting to feel more at home here, but I still wish I was at home sometimes.
ooh, gotta go. there is a eurovision show on. apparently it is a contest between the european nations. it is like american idol but they all send one contestant who from what I gather is in costume, and is perhaps a horrible singer?! I dont know, but then all the europeans phone in votes for the winner! Israel won last year (I dont know how they became part of Europe)
Ciao for now!

well, who knew? I guess I never thought about it, but had you asked I would have thought farmers markets more English than American for sure. Live and learn. I'm glad to hear that those pesky classes aren't getting in the way of picnics, shopping and sightseeing! And you're absolutley right, I should go there myself!:)
Love, Liz
