If the journey doesn't kill you, the destination will

OK I get what you mean by be careful now. You just weren't specific!

Be careful of being the first person at the airport
Be careful of befriending the lost wallet guy, he will spill coffee all over you - midflight
Be careful of the length of a cross Atlantic flight
Be careful of sore throats on planes
Be careful of your elbow, sitting on an aisle. sheesh
Be careful of the accents. what was that? what did you say? enunciate! they aren't so sexy when you don't know what they are saying.
Be careful not to get too lost. none of the roads are straight. none are on a grid.
most of all:
Be careful crossing the street! they drive on the wrong side you know! and fast

Yeah, so ok all you can breathe easy for a moment - I made it!

...now how am I going to survive?

actually I have only been in London for about 4 hours at this point, even though I have been gone and journeying here for 24! whew! what a lot of work!
I really was the first person at the airport. got there at 3 for a 4:30 check in for a 7:30 flight. I don't like airports anymore. Second person to show up happens to be a guy I work at the MU with, and he mentions he forgot his wallet and is getting it mailed to him posthaste, but could I loan him some money until then. sure
then we end up sitting next to each other on the flight. a huge 747 jumbo jet (that's right! two stories 50 rows of seats - ten seats across - and I had a middle aisle seat in the last row) this is where things go wrong. not only is he slightly uninteresting, but halfway through the flight he spills his coffee all over himself and me!! all over. and over my jeans, which were not scheduled for cleaning for a while. grrr. after the flight, when I was cranky, tired, airsicky, and stained, I let him know that I did not need to be his only lender. He could ask other people for money. i.e. don't ask me.
Then we get to our "hotel" and find two iron bunk beds with nice white sheets on them, an ancient looking sink, a new fridge, and a bathroom across the hall that I think I need shots to immunize me against. the lodging made me kind of homesick, and I realized this was not just going to be an awesome vacation...I live here for three weeks. so there will have to be some homey touches added, but perhaps scary bathrooms are meant to keep you from spending too much time in your room and not exploring.
The rest of the facilities are nice, they are just in different buildings! and we were given a tour of everything, but my walk home from the computer lab is going to include a tad bit of luck.

I haven't taken any photos yet, but I will try to get some of my room and the area I live in, as well as all the sightseeing pics I will get tomorrow on our tour.
